Sorry so long...
Internet was down here at the house of no technology. Yuk.

So BIG news...
I got the Ralph Lauren job. I started on Monday the 27th and have been training. I'm in the Women's Department. It should be really cool and I'm super excited. I work for The Man and I get to wear hot pink cashmere. Cool.

No more cruise shop job. I got the RLL job one day b4 the cruise ship premiere and (thankfully) did not have to go at all. Yea.

The new church is cool and Saturday we went to their Friendship Luau. Yummy food. I ate SO much...

The younger hula dancers did a number to Rachel Lampa's "No Greater Love" that made ME cry. If someone will me how to post video easily, I'll post it. It's beautiful.

Friday night we went out with new church friends Max and Tammy to the California Pizza Kitchen. Very yummy and it was nice to talk to people again.

Did I mention that I went to Bruce and Brandon Lee's graves in Seattle? No? Well, here's a photo.

I was on the set of Hawaii Thursday and it was a bit boring. I saw quite a bit of the cast including Michael Biehn, Aya Sumika and Sharif Atkins. 10 hours of shooting and waiting and I left early. Look for me in "Almost Paradise" in the funeral scene - several shots. Photos below.

We finally snorkeled Shark's Cove. Awesome. I'm calling it "Exreme Snorkeling" 'cause everything is "Extreme" these days and due to the large waves we got caught in causing me minor injuries including a slightly bloody elbow and a cool cut on my hand. No sharks, but thousands of pretty aquarium fishes. A Must-See. No pics, but you're tired of pics anyway by now.

AND...
I'm being considered for another TV show. TLC's Faking It as a Surfer Girl. I emailed a request and picture and they have requested a video tape of me which I sent out on Monday. They say that the video is the last step in thier casting process and that they'll let me know. If chosen, I would undergo 1 month of heavy-duty surfing training to see if I can fake out some experts by pretending to be a true surfer girl. Weird, huh? Oh, well. You knew I would be getting into trouble here.

Did you see me? Did you see me?
Well, neither did I, but I did see my car! Yea! Rock-It was on TV TWICE! I still think that's cool.
I'm on the set again tomorrow (Thursday) for a wedding scene and a funeral scene (weird, I know) and it's just me - no car. I'm going for lines this time. Wish luck! I'll try to do photos and some groping for Danielle and post soon.

Time for the...

"Kama'aina" (kaam-a-I-na)
Means: A long time island resident or local. Really, anyone who can prove that they're not a tourist.
Used in a sentance: "Do you have a kama'aina discount rate?"
Finally...
I'm a working girl again. TOOK LONG ENOUGH. Matt and I are about to start eating dirt. :)

I went in yesterday for my orientation for the cruise ship. I was set to work on the 3 star dinning deck, but when I arrived, they had bumped me up to five star serving(tuxes and white gloves) to which I say, "Bring it on," since it's quite a bit more moo-lah. I observed the five star deck last night and I think I'll be quite pleased to work there. Lots of VIP's and big tips. But the best part is the AIR CONDITIONING! They keep it freezing up there. I start training on Friday night.

YIPPIE! YIPPIE! YEA!
My episode of Hawaii is on this week!! NBC 8pm on Wednesday for ya'll in FL/TX. 7pm for west coast! Like you have anything better to do on Wednesday night. Look for the blue Jetta with the FL plates in the semi-chase scene. Yea!

AND

I'm on set again on Thursday in 2 more scenes.

AND

I've already received my check from the first episode. Why do I need a real job?

Speak of which...
I start tomorrow (Tuesday) at the Star of Honolulu cruise line as a server. It's real work, but it pays well and I get tips, too. It should pass the time until I get on with Ralph.
Cruise info and photos of the ship HERE. Daddy's happy because all of those years of ship's "training" are finally going to be put to work. He's so cute.

Matt's first flight with real people is tomorrow, too. Big day. He's so excited. And he should be! Holds up to 37 people. Scary for me, cool for him. I wonder what those passengers would think if they knew it was his first trip. Hmmmm.....

Bye for now...Watch Hawaii!

I found this cool list of hurricane names for this year. Honestly, I was looking to see if Hurricane Leslie was a possibility for this year, but it's not until 2006. So I'm out for this year, but guess who's in? Hurricane Matthew. And judging by the way Florida loves it's hurricanes this year, we might actually get there.

Here's the list for this year:
Alex
Bonnie
Charley
Danielle
Earl
Frances
Gaston
Hermine
Ivan
Jeanne
Karl
Lisa
Matthew
Nicole
Otto
Paula
Richard
Shary
Tomas
Virginie
Walter

It still would have been cool to have Hurricane Leslie and Hurricane Matthew in the same year.

Here's the link for all years (2002-2007).

Manda is back!
Manda is posting again. Yea! Here's a link.
http://amairead.blogspot.com

And that reminds me that I don't have my favorite links set up on the right side of the page. Those fine websites are probably about to go under due to the lack of traffic previously generated by the links on my old blog. I'm ashamed. Ok, not really, but I will get some links up.

I took a personality test at Ralph Lauren today. They insisted on calling it a "Survey" and when I would say, "Oh, it's like a personality test," they would say, "um, well, no. It's a survey." That was a personality test if I have EVER seen one and, trust me, my personality has been tested a few times before. Oh, well. I guess they just wanted to make sure that I didn't think it was ok to get high and steal a bunch of skirts as that was the general subject of most of the questions. OK, I get it. It's not THAT kind of job. Should hear back in 3-5 days after they check references (that means you, Chuck, Amanda and Erik).

Another office-type interview on Monday. Oh, the drabness of it all. Why do I even have to work. My husband is a PILOT. People's lives depend on him directly. Why does he make less than a zoo monkey? Psychos.

Danielle sent me this...she's funny.

Did NOT snorkel today, but I did go driving and found a new snorkel place called Shark Bay. It was cool. Very protected and had pretty aquarium fish ALL over. Didn't see any sharks though. I guess the fat tourists scared them off. I'll let you know after I stick my face into the water and not just my feet.

I found this picture of all of us at Disney last night...

And Jack reminds me SO much of this one from Life Magazine in 1952...

I uploaded every song I own (over 1000) onto my Pink Mini ipod last night and I feel SO cool. I have everything I could ever want to listen to right at my fingertips. The radio adapter for the car lets me blast it all in Rock-It (the Jetta). I ate a Pineapple Burger at the place they talk about in Pulp Fiction while I listened to the Pulp Fiction "theme" Misirlou. Cool.

(Added Later)
I watched Lilo and Stitch last night and it gave me my Hawaiian Word of the Post
(Hawaiian Word of the Post needs a logo - I'll work on that):
"Ohana" (o-ha'-na)
"Ohana means family. Family means nobody gets left behind (or forgotten)."
Used in a sentance: I miss my ohana.

"Smile! You're on Candid Camera!"
My FOURTH interview at RLL went well. Possible FIFTH interview after paperwork goes through. I feel like I'm on a reality show. "How much CAN she take?"

"I feel pretty, oh, so pretty..."
Thinking of going redheaded again. Amanda's just so hot as a redhead and it got me thinking...

How much do you love that? It's OK...after sunset Jack changes back into himself :)

"...A Three Hour Tour"
I go Friday to tour and observe the Star of Hawaii dinner cruise for possible nighttime work since RLL may take up to two more weeks. I've gatta eat (and shop), ya know. They have you tour the boat and actually go on the cruise before you can work there for various reasons including, "to make sure you don't get seasick." That was just my favorite reason.

Speaking of barfing...
My little cousin, David, was puking all day. Sorry, dude. Be tough, you'll live even if it doesn't feel that way now.

Hehe...barfing.

What time is it there?
2 days until The Matt returns. Yea! He passed his oral examination yesterday (enter joke about cavities *here*) and his final checkride is tomorrow (Wednesday) at about 1:pm Seattle time (that's 4pm FL time and 3pm Houston time - quit asking).

To pass the time, I think I'm going snorkeling here tomorrow...

http://www2.hawaii.edu/~hanauma/explore.htm
It's supposed to be fantastic. I'm bringing the underwater camera. Will update.

I don't get it.
I hooked up the Xbox tonight and tried to play Tetris online, but it just creeps me out listening to other people while playing and I never said a word or finished a whole game. Am I a weirdo for not liking this or are the people who enjoy corresponding with strangers the weirdos? I actually had to spellcheck "weirdo".

Hawaiian Word of the Post
"Houlie" (how-lee)
Means: White mainlander who tries to make Hawaii home.
Used in a sentance: "That houlie is trying to steal my job."

Um, yeah.
I just tried to use the cell phone as a mouse. It's sleepy-time.

Home again
I'm back from Seattle. Matt's training is going well and he should be home on Thursday. Yea!
Seattle is BEAUTIFUL and the weather was a yummy 54-72 degrees the whole time. I'll post photos soon...Matt kept the camera.

I have the Fourth and final interview with Ralph Lauren tomorrow (Tuesday). We'll see how that goes. Bad news about the MaxStudio job. Turns out that after 2 weeks of no news, the District Manager decided not to hire either of the candidates that the store manager wanted. This included me. Yuck. Oh well. I saw that Universal Studios Japan is hiring ;)

I'm Home!
I'm finally moved into my new apartment here in Hawaii. I'll be posting photos soon. It's pretty nice considering what's available, but for what I pay here, I think I can still afford both the Pladdy's and Erik's homes. Still, there's a view and I'm living in paradise, right? Sure, I am.

I am coming up on my FOURTH interview with Ralph Lauren. Um... FOURTH. Yeah. I miss you Chuck. :)

I'm not home...
I'm currently in Seattle with Matt. His training goes through this Thursday and I'm here visiting over the weekend until Monday. What a pretty city! And it's so cool - 72 degrees and it was 54 when I got off the plane this morning. Brrr. Yum.

This Raddison we're staying in has free internet access and I'm loving it! Every hotel should have this. Seriously.

I'm going to play in Seattle now...Yea! The Mainland.

I have an address...
At the risk of weirdos getting it (that's who I hope to hear from anyway) here it is:
Matt & Leslie Lormann
4566 LIKINI ST
HONOLULU HI 96818-2237

Likini - like Bikini with a "B". Hehe.

Anyway! We moved in Friday and I'll be posting pics as soon as I can. We're still getting situated adn may not have internet for a week or so. Call if you think I'm lost or something.

No news to report on my job hunt. I'm waiting to hear from the L.A. District Manager for MaxStudio and Ralph Lauren wants me in for a THIRD interview this week. Jeez.

Matt alone leaves Tuesday by himself for Seattle for 10 days of anti-Leslie Simulator Training. Without me. Did I mention that I'm not going. No? Oh, well, I'm not. 10 more days to get a tan and scope out tourists without Matt. I'd go back to Florida for a bit, but I'm afraid I'd drown...I'll bet airfare is cheap.

Oh, and by the way...I WAS ON HAWAII!!!! How cool is that? I walked into the Casting office on Wednesday after talking to the guys at the earlier mentioned "bush burning" taping and they asked what I was doing Thursday...simple as that. I was a driver for a stunt scene...let me clarify...I was an extra, driving my car, while a stunt scene/car chase thing went on around me. I met bi time stunt guy Buddy Joe Hooker, who is a charmer, let me tell ya and I saw Michael Biehn, who has big hair for this role. I'll let you know when this episode airs so you can all watch out for Rock-It with her Florida license plate and crack in the windshield. They did a couple scenes with us. An SUV cuts me off...all very exciting. I'll be back on...I promise. I think I want lines now.

Don't die, My little Florida cuties. You can always move here if your house washes away. Just don't bring anything...a LOT of my stuff is pretty damaged and Matson now says that they DO NOT have insurance like they told me on the phone. Fun. I'm fighting the good fight now. The piano's wheel's cracked and limped away. That was fun...I'm replacing the castors later today and Will's gonna keep her. It's nice that she gets played by someone who knows what he's doing.

Sorry so long and so far between. I'm trying to get settled soon!

More photos soon!

Matt & I hiked up Diamond Head on Monday... 600ft up, baby.
This is the view of Waikiki from the top of Diamond Head.

Above is the lighthouse on the point below Diamond Head that is surrounded by 3+ million dollar homes.
Bleow is me at the top, behind me is the east side of the island...the Kailua Bay with a bit of Koko Head to the left.

Yesterday we drove to the North Shore again for some shopping and this it the China Man's Hat at Kualoa Park. Right around the corner they were shooting a big drug burning scene for Hawaii Cool.

China Man's Hat landmark is on what I call the Jurassic Park side of the island...about 1/2 mile from the Kualoa Ranch where they filmed some of 1 and all of 3.
Below, this is how close the mountains are to the beach. It's a wonderful mix of sights...On one side you have ocean for as far as you can see and on the other, mountains so large that the tops are usually hidden in clouds.

Below is a map with all of the Leslie & Matt landmarks marked on it...

A closer view...
ok - that's twice now that I've written an entire blog only to LOSE IT COMPLETELY when I went to post it.... I really AM trying people!!!!!
